BTW: We live in a republic, not a democracy. I'm sure you already know this but were being careless in your word choice; you shouldn't be. There are significat differences.

The danger of the republican form of self-rule were well known to our founders (and selected specifically to avoid the greater dangers of a democracy) as illustrated by Ben Franklins famous response(he sure had a bunch of them didn't he?) to Mrs Powell in Philidelphia.

The fall of the US is inevitable, but so is the death of our sun, and there is no way to know which will occur first. However, the potential collapse of our nation is never more than a generation away, and something we must all strive to prevent.
