He's been asked repeatedly by reporters for years if he was gay, he never said no always 'That's my business', bunch of other politicians knew he was and rightfully thought it was his business. I'm not even sure how anti-gay he was, poking around at what he voted against and his record he wasn't exactly a screaming bigot. Not all gays entirely agree on the 'gay agenda', he apparently was voting this way when his orientation was no secret. Not answering on grounds of privacy 'are you gay?' may be a principled stand, but it's not one most straight people will take so let's not pretend this guy was screaming about queers going to hell then getting BJ's from an altar boy or something. If people want to call him anti-gay, fine, people call Clarence Thomas an Uncle Tom too.

Oh, he'll be sacrificed to the gods of pragmatism, convenience, and bloodlust I'm sure, but let's at least pretend for a moment that a person race, creed, gender and orientation don't have to govern their personal politics.
