Got it from the library, I wasn't sure I wanted to buy it, but I probably will now when I can get it for $20 or so.
I also read mixed reviews, mainly that you're playing as a Big Daddy but you keep getting your ass handed to you by splicers. That's pretty true, you don't at all feel much like a badass till almost the end, but that hasn't bothered me.
The story is almost as good as the first game. It's cool seeing different parts of Rapture. The many audio logs scattered throughout give you some interesting viewpoints on events from the first game. I've come across a couple of paintings on the wall of the plane crash and lighthouse from the first scene of Bioshock.
