Sounds like things are going pretty good, especially on the all-important slipper front. Never owned slippers myself. A British thing? I just wear two pairs of socks and shiver a little. Teach your step-kid how to build contained-range nuclear grenades, and I guarantee he'll never be picked on ever again. Or at least never by the same bully twice.
