Which was odd, since her front yard was in the middle of the city, but Jennica was never one to discount the impossible simply because it happened. Curious, she reached down and poked the turtle in the head, but it retreated inside of its shell. So she knocked on the shell, but the rude turtle refused to come out. Perturbed, Jennica lifted the turtle and shook it. She reached inside, probing with her fingers, pushing her way into where the turtle was hiding. It bit her.
With a cry, Jennica dropped the turtle and watched the red blood flow from her hand. She glared. "I am to be feared," she said. "I am to be loved. Learn this."
She flipped the turtle onto its back, and went to find a rock.
