In the marathons, I'm just impressed by anyone who can actually finish the race But in the women's marathon, Paula Radcliffe dropping out and those happy three winners were memorable. In the men's marathon, that little incident with de Lima and the fact that the medals were given during the closing ceremony made it pretty memorable too.

I liked the touch of the marathon medals being part of the closing ceremony. Especially since de Lima was awarded the special medal in front of everyone. You are right. That did make it more memorable.
