It's TERRIBLE, because when you're speaking to someone with an accent that's different from everyone around them, you begin to imitate their speech patterns. I always have to catch myself because it sounds like I'm making fun of them.

Also, when my mom talks to Indian people, she speaks in English with an accent, yet no accent when she talks to me or non-Indians.
