I only speak English fluently, and am barely passable in Spanish (less in French), but my accent in English changes depending on who I am talking to So, maybe it has more to do with how people learn language than how many they can speak...
I typically have a slight Boston accent, but I talked to people from all over the country (and Canada) in my last job and after a few minutes I'd unconsciously pick up their accent . Inevitably the other person would notice and ask me where I am from... It can be so embarassing, but I don't know how to stop
