Those homos... Fantasmo de Matrimonio - 27/05/2004 05:38:45 PM

are great... I say let them get married.

I am sure this has probably been posted into oblivion, but with all the Iraq posts, I somehow didn't see one on this lately. I was talking to my pal Chase and was shocked to find that he was actually against all the "weddings" that have been taking place lately, in SF and Boston, etc. He is a strong believer that we have established a system of government that allows for a method for change, and to circumvent that method undermines the entire social structure. (This shocked me because I hadn't really thought the issues through and erroneously believed that a man who is gay would support gay marriage by fair means or foul, for lack of a better phrase.)

Is Chase gay? I don't see why it is such a big deal. The entire marriage social structure has been under assualt the last 30 years anyway. 50% of people that marry are likely to divorce anyway. What is the big deal?

Of course it going to change the social structure, but the social structure is already changed, and it is always changing.

Let the gays marry, and if they are against it they don't have to marry. Alot of heterosexuals do that too.... (I'll probably be one of them )

1) Do you think the recent rash of gay marriages by the executive and judicial branches are good or bad and why?

How can you paint the question so black and white?

Are heterosexual marriages good or bad? See, it isn't so easy to say.

I personally think that they are good change and that we shouldn't keep repressing gay people. Gayness is obviously a genetic trait. If I were gay, I would hate it that I would have to shun my identity.

2) Do you believe homosexual marriage (or civil union... I don't want to debate semantics here) should be permitted or not?

Absolutely...

Of course, if it is granted, what will be challenged next?

Many think that Polygamy will also be challenged soon.

It may be a slippery slope, but we have already walked it anyway.

Just let them get married... is it really that important anyway? I mean what is more important, caring about whether some is muff-diving or anal spelunking and they are married or not, or far more pressing issues like STARVATION, and MEN DYING IN WAR and GLOBAL BLOODY WARMING.
