How are the marriages performed in Massachusetts circumventing the system?!

1) Do you think the recent rash of gay marriages by the executive and judicial branches are good or bad and why?
I do not think that defying state law, as in the case of San Francisco, is the ideal way to change laws. And those marriages are not even recognized by the state! However, as much as I would like to have faith in the system, sometimes you can't just stand idly by and wait while your government perpetuates an injustice. So I support it to an extent.

2) Do you believe homosexual marriage (or civil union... I don't want to debate semantics here) should be permitted or not?
Yes. And I think the "semantics" are important. California and Vermont already permit civil unions, but I don't think it's enough. Even if they provide the full benefits of marriage, I still believe the differentiation is wrong.
