I know about 130 cuneiform signs well enough to not have to look them up and it's fun transcribing that into "normalized" Akkadian and then translating. The thing is that I never learned the Old Babylonian forms for the symbols (they look a lot funkier - the Neo-Assyrian is what most people think of with cuneiform). I also have to work on the derived forms of the verbs...I think this whole detour into perfecting Akkadian has set me back about one year in reading.

Oh well.

Exactly. Intellectual curiosity goes where it wants.;)

Apparently my lack of interest in reading hasn't led to a lack of interest in buying books. - 19/05/2010 06:29:36 PM 764 Views

I don't know if the "thanks" was sarcastic or not or generally whether to say "you're welcome" - 19/05/2010 07:22:05 PM 618 Views
