It's fiction. It's not like Simmons claims that truly happened...

In fact, you could probably take the bit where Simmons has Collins write "After that my life wasn't the same" (or whatever the words are) when he goes to King Lazaree as a final departure from the "real Wilkie Collins". It's like a marker stating that from here on in, things go really wonky.


Maybe. But I am not inclined to give him any leeway. He annoyed me way too much for that.
