Does the phrase have any meaning for you?

Do you read books that could be described by that term?

Sadly, what I am reminded of is Twilight. Also, any other horribly written young adult series; if it involves vampires, changelings (animorphs, anyone?), or werewolves, it is almost assuredly horrible. Even though there is really nothing all-encompassingly urban about these topoi, urban fantasy seems synonymous with any new fantasy series set in"modern times"--at least this is so in America.

A standalone that I am reminded of is The War of the Flowers, by Tad Williams. The book is nothing fancy, but it is set around "The City" in faerie.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is a sub-genre of fantasy that easily be expanded into...maybe we'll see some good stuff develop within the next couple of years.
