A. what is the competition to win a copy of the Radleys?

and B. Yes, I am currently reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen for the first time. I'm on Gardens of the Moon, and while I find it fairly engaging, I'm having a hard time getting into the world, the politics, and especially the magic system. Being a fan of such works as WoT, the Runelords, and Brandon Sanderson's stuff, I like to have my magic systems well thought out and described. The Malazan magic is too nebulous to really draw me in.
