Yes, but it can be a hard getting through the first book Mark Send a noteboard - 08/09/2009 03:08:50 PM
A lot of people tend to give up on the first book (myself included) and have to be encouraged by others to finish it. Erikson doesn't use a reader proxy (i.e. a farmboy who knows nothing about anything and so must have everything explained to them) and as such it can be hard to figure out what is going on in the first book as you are just thrown straight into the middle of a rather complex world. Also the first book was written about five years before the second and you do notice an improvement in his writing skills in the second book.

Ultimately it's worth it as it is the best series being written at the moment.
