It was very easy to read. The_Muted_Grimaud Send a noteboard - 14/07/2010 06:40:33 PM
I've been considering buying a book of letters between the Tsarina of Russia (Alexandra) and her mother, Queen Victoria. Just not sure whether I'd actually enjoy reading letters.

How difficult was the writing style?
Janá?ek wrote quite simply and clearly. His wife, in a section of the memoirs mentioned in the book, stated that it might of been because Stösslová was not well educated. Her letters were harder to read due to a lack of puncuation and easily followable thought. Imagine reading letters by a twelve year old or something. (Thankfully the editor saved us from the myriad spelling mistakes).

But overall it was easy to follow, the biggest issue was it did drag quite a bit at some points, because he wrote to her everyday and there were whole months of letters that breached the same topics over and over again.
