BUT

If they hadn't nosed around and been down there, it is very unlikely Quirrell would have been able to get the stone anyway. That has always bothered me (though yes, I can admit to the fact that they discovered a Big Baddie, and that's good for everyone). Also, what was their plan for not dying? Taking on a super-villain and not knowing Harry was protected by his mother... I dunno. I always feel like I shouldn't pick it apart, but I am bothered.:P


Yes, I have always had a problem with that particular bit as well. Do we ever get a satisfactory explanation for it? I have a nagging feeling Dumbledore mentions it at some point, but that may be wishful thinking.
