1) what's the longest time you've spent reading a book?
A month plus. That's how long I've been picking at The Idiot (I haven't been reading it every day, though, which is why it's taking so long). I've found that if there's a lot of dialogue without action (particularly in huge blocks of text), I take a lot longer to trudge through a book. It's a trend I noticed during high school, too.
2) do you ever get put off by length?

No, I don't mind a long book.
3) what about complexity?

No, I don't mind a complex book, as long as it's well written and not confusingly-complex (due to being disorganized)
4) how long is too long?

No such thing.
5) Is there any hope of me making it through Tom Bombadil in this thing?
I'm sure there's plenty of hope.
