JK Rowling is known for screwing up numbers - Edit 1

Before modification by Deadsy at 10/08/2010 02:51:16 PM

the guy that Dumbledore defeated around the same year that Hitler died. He's mentioned on the chocolate frog card in book 1. Voldemort was born around 1935 I believe. (IIRC Voldemort was around 60 years old in the mid 90s/book 4).

There's one thing I never thought of before though. Dumbledore was born around 1840. Why did it take Grindewald 80 years from 1860 to come into power? It *felt* like while reading it that he started coming into power soon after he left Dumbledore. I'll have to read again to find out why it seemed that way to me.

According to Jk Rowling herself. Check out the wizard of the month section on her website

looked it up though, because i always "knew" that dumbledore was around 150 years old.

Birthdate: 1881 (JKR), probably in July or August. This date supercedes Jo's statement in 2001 that Dumbledore was "about 150 years old" (Blue Nose Day) and fits better with the dates that appear in Book 7.
