Or am I reading too much into the words?

In the 5th chapter, where Harry arrives at the Weasley's, there's a scene where Ron & Hermione ask how Sirius is doing, and then "Ron and Hermione had been so deeply involved in helping Sirius escape from the Ministry of Magic that they were almost as concerned about Harry's godfather as he was".

I thought Ron wasn't involved at all (apart from in keeping the secret). I thought he was recovering or something. Did I remember that wrong?

I think it's just a poor choice of words on her part. Ron was in the hospital wing when Harry and Hermione helped Sirius escape, but I think she's alluding to the fact that Ron, having been there in the Shrieking Shack and being closely involved in the overall situation, was very concerned. You're correct, though. As written, it doesn't quite match the facts.
