I mentioned in this months "what are you reading" thread that I'm reading (since finished) Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay. It is one of those books that excites you, you can't wait to find time to read more of it. It's been a long time since a book has done that for me and I made a point to say I think Kay is an underrated author. Legolas disagreed saying most people he knows love Kay.

While I think to read Kay is to love Kay I would argue that Legolas and most of people he knows are, on average, better read than your "typical fantasy reader" and that my view that he is underrated stands true. Though maybe I just need to get out more.

Kay's books are intelligent, tense, poetic, and touching. I think they're so good, that if they were more widely read there would be more discussion about them on sites like this one.

Now I've only read 3 of his books: Tigana, The Lions of Al-Rassan, and Under Heaven. Each one better than the last. So my questions to you are as follows...

Have you read Kay?

What books have you read and did you enjoy them?

Have I unkowingly read the best Kay has to offer and now be disappointed with whatever I choose to read next?

Which of his books would you suggest I read next?
