1) Mystery novels of any sort are WAY out of my comfort zone. I normally dislike them whenever I've tried to read them in the past.
2) It's a free Kindle book, so no money or illegality necessary to expand my horizons.
I must admit, though, the brief synopsis I read on The Kite Runner sounded pretty interesting.
