I would like to know your (current) favourites:

1. Metafiction.

Nothing beats the classics. The Arabian Nights, Slaughterhouse 5, The Hitchhikers' Guides to the Galaxy, The World Acc. to Garp, Everything is Illuminated, Orlando:A biography...they're all metafictional in some degree.

Be hardcore and read If on a winter's night a traveller OR Cloud Atlas
2. Playwright.

Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead - which is metafictional too! OR Arthur Miller's The Crucible
3. Absurdist.

Camus' Plague, Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle OR Gogol's The Nose.

4. Cyberpunk.

Richard Morgan's Altered Carbon - someone help me, this IS cyberpunk, right? Or Cryptonomicon? I'm a bit lost for this.

5. Modernist.

Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse OR Orlando OR Mrs. Dalloway; Katherine Mansfield's Short fiction - any collection will do, really but The Garden Party might be most, er, representative? Again, someone who knows what they are talking about come and help me.
Djuna Barne's Nightwood.

These are some obvious, easy answers. Hopefully more esoteric ones will shows up in other replies. Happy Reading!

Thank you!
