If I had to point to any single thing that most influenced me as a kid, it would be the way my dad read to me when I was little. By the age of six or seven we had gone through Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web, The Hobbit, all three books of The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and one or two Harry Potters.
My favorite at the time was definitely the Tolkien, but all of them were excellent.
