However, it does pick up speed. I'd keep reading, because once the war starts it's incredibly intense.

I've been searching for a way to describe what his descriptions feel like to me, and the best I've been able to come up with is....sterile. I'm not sure if it's just me not being used to his writing, the first chapter, or what, but his descriptions just don't seem quite "on" just yet to me. It's like the words all fit together and make sense, but something about them just isn't quite right.

Anyways, I'm going to stick with it and see what happens. Now that I know the beginning is just a little slow for people and it gets better later on I'm going to stick it out for a bit.
