That's what I just didn't understand. Does he keep going round and round, sometimes doing things right and sometimes wrong? Having Roland continue endlessly through this cycle isn't tragic or poetic... it's unoriginal. Without resolution, how will his struggles ever have meaning?
Eventually I think that Roland gets it "right" by realizing that he doesn't NEED to go into the Dark Tower and that it's more important to be with the people that love him (instead of sacrificing them along the way).
