I've read all four Odd Thomas books... - Edit 1

Before modification by Shannow at 08/02/2011 09:46:58 AM

I got the sequel from the library - I forget what it was called now - but I was a less impressed. Those are the only books of his I've read. I usually don't go for thrillers/horror ...

They are building up to something. Odd is a likeable character.

I like how Koontz takes ordinary people and shows how their is value in being the best you can be - in any walk of life.

Like the lady in the third Odd Thomas book who helps Odd out in a tight spot, and tells him she's a retired garbage truck operator. Turns out she and her husband started with one truck and ended up running garbage disposal for six counties, making a fortune.

She then says: "There's good monney to be made in garbage, if you're interested". Odd, of course, has the ambition of becoming a tyre salesman.

The point Koontz is making, is that whether you're a cook, or a garbage collector or a tyre salesman, there is equal value in all professions, and as long as you strive to be the best in what you do, that is commendable.

I like that.
