I clicked on the review specifically because of that song.

Personally I'm rather fond of the Pet Shop Boys, otherwise I might have been less inclined to read a book that continually reminded me of one of their songs, I guess. :P
I stayed to see what the book was actually about. It's one of those things I'm not sure if I want to actually read (like Zola's Rougon-Macquart ).

I'm not sure I'd recommend it to you, either. I have a feeling you'd be among those who'd be irritated by Alice.
It sounds awfully dry, though. In any event it's not something I'm likely to read anytime soon. Too much German and French literature (and philosophy/political thought - I just ordered von Clausewitz, vom Krieg ).

Nah, I wouldn't call it dry. Not drier than Austen, and less innocent. Just a bit drawn-out.

But yes, I realize you have other books to read anyway. :P I'm currently reading a French book as well, and even a classic, albeit in the crime genre: Maurice Leblanc's Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Cambrioleur. I should have a review of that up soon as well, though it's rather light reading and I wouldn't recommend adding it to your list. :P
