Re: David Eddings Zaphod Send a noteboard - 17/03/2011 09:55:23 PM
Have you read anything by Eddings?

yup, belgariad and whatever the follow-up series was (with the copout plot about how they 'missed' a section of prophecy - I even thought that was weak when I was at teenager), plus Belgarath and Polgara books

If yes, how long ago did you (first) read it/them?

1996ish, I was 16

- Do you reread?

dear god no. In fact, I read 13 books in 14 days and was so dissatisfied with the fact that it was so quickly read that I asked around to see if there were more expansive series, which is directly what led me to WoT.

- What's your favourite of his series?

Well, Belgariad was decent enough, second one (as mentioned above) seemed cheap, and haven't read any of the others.

- Favourite character?

I seem to remember liking the Emperor in the second series... zakath?

Generally I found his work to be quite weak, and even as a 16 year old I was disdainful of the simplicity with which he framed nations and nationalities, like all people from Nyissa were sneaky or whatever the dominant trait of each country was.

That's my answer!

No. Never cared to read it, since I rarely read epic fantasies until 13-14 years ago. *NM* - 16/03/2011 09:33:52 PM 723 Views
