Nick Harkaway and Joe Hill also tried to hide the fact that they are the sons of famous authors (John le Carre and Stephen King) and it didn't quite work either.
The other thing I've heard about Parker is that it might actually be a pen-name for Tom Holt's wife, which would make a lot more sense, as she's an American lawyer living in Britain (as KJP's bio says) and might not want to be accused of only succeeding through nepotism. Although after ten very well received novels, I shouldn't think that's a problem any more.
