Would it? I am not so sure. I'm generally not a fan of pointless violence and sex, but I don't mind it if I think it adds meaningfully to the story. Now granted, I haven't finished the first book yet, so there might be a giant, extraneous orgy at the end that I haven't gotten to yet, but so far I think the violence and sex encountered has been well placed and valuable to the story. I think toning it down would remove a lot of the texture and general feel of the world, the characters, and the books.
