the idea behind this theory is that Rhaegar and Lyanna were actually in love, not that he raped her as is suggested by Robert Baratheon and others throughout the series.


The evidence for this is mainly from Meera's story to Bran, in aSoS, though it's very briefly mentioned, that Rhaegar names Lyanna the queen of love and beauty after winning the tourny at Harrenhall. Though I believe that is mentioned somewhere else as well. Either way the evidence is that Rhaegar names Lyanna instead of his wife Elia.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
