I find I develop crushes on characters. I think that is the best way to describe it. It is not a romantic crush type thing, but still. Fascination is perhaps a better word. Or you could just say I get slightly obsessed. But it doesn't pass. I remain obsessed. Since I very rarely read long series of books, there is little chance of this infatuation growing weaker before the whole character is developed.

I do not remember how I felt about Jordan's characters in the beginning, but I must have liked some of them. The only one I can remember being fascinated by, though, is Ishamael/Moridin, and that hasn't really changed. Perhaps because I have not kept up with the newer books.

What I am trying to say, I think, is that I change as time passes, and characters develop throughout a book or series. If these changes are allowed to occur in both over a long period of time, I could see a situation in which the fascination with the character is weakened enough for me to change my mind as something new is introduced. But I cannot remember it happening, and I rarely give it a chance to. Once I have formed an image in my mind of a character, and that character is not going to provide any new information for me to incorporate, our relationship is safe.
