What a Transtravesty. Tom Send a noteboard - 06/10/2011 02:59:09 PM
As I sit here, I find myself wondering why other living authors haven't received a Nobel Prize, but an obscure Swedish poet no one has ever heard of has. I guess this is the same flawless logic that gave an American President fighting three wars the Nobel Peace Prize for just having gotten elected.

Milan Kundera would be a very logical choice, given that his complete works have just been released. I might be a bit hesitant to name Umberto Eco, but any committee that gave the prize to Marquez has no business excluding Eco.

The Nobel Peace committee has thoroughly discredited itself. It seems literature is heading that way. I'm sure this little old man writes splendid poetry, but that doesn't make him significant globally.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
