I did read Invitation to a Beheading, which was a pretty nicely executed existential nightmare, the likes of which Kafka only wishes he could've touched. The language and structure of that story are rather inventive, though not so much as in later work (and of course I read a translation).

Anyway, nice summary of his prestige.
