Although it's not been officially confirmed, it seems that the news that Anne McCaffrey passed away yesterday from a stroke is correct.

She was 85, and still very active in the world of SF/F.

Her Pern books are some of my most beloved fantasy/sci-fi stories, and it is sad news that she has passed.


EDIT: It has been officially confirmed with her publisher.
