But definitely more of the Empire period than the Republic period?

They're out there, but harder to find good ones that are available. I have a few prospects, but I'll have to check my collection tonight. Sometimes the titles and authors tend to blend together in the mind.

Well. To give you an idea of where I'm at, I wasn't even entirely aware that there were distinct Empire and Republic periods. But given a choice, the Empire period sounds more interesting. But that doesn't mean I would be necessarily uninterested in the other, if it were a part of the overall history.

This has become a much more complicated question than I assumed! But thanks. I look forward to seeing what you'd recommend. There's no rush on it though. It's not as though I have the car running waiting to take me to the bookstore.
