Funny, I'm finishing up The Sound and the Fury right now. *NM* Panorphaeon Send a noteboard - 27/12/2011 10:16:05 PM
Since book club discussions seem to be dead around here, thought I'd mention something that I'm going to be leading at a new blog, Gogol's Overcoat, that a friend and I are adding content to in early January:

Starting January 6 and going through every Friday of 2012, I am going to write commentaries (if not full-fledged reviews) of every single Faulkner novel and short story. I can, if there's interest, copy/paste those posts here, although it'd be nice to see comments there, due to it being a new blog and all. Since people might feel overwhelmed due to the sheer volume (19 novels, over 40 short stories), feel free to read what interests you and comment then. I do have 2-3 weeks between the novels, just so the pace won't feel too overwhelming.

I am going in rough order of the Library of America publication dates for the novels (thus Faulkner's four earliest novels actually come last; thought that might make for an interesting exploration when I get to Soldiers' Pay on September 7 after having read his last novel, The Reivers on August 24) and the 1976 Vintage edition of Collected Stories for the short fiction, with the stories chosen from alternating sections (sections 1-3 for January-July and sections 4-6 for August-December).

So, anyone interested in reading/participating in all or even a tiny part of this? Also may do something similar for Henry James' novels, stories, lit criticisms, and travel pieces that will span parts of 2012-2013.
