Well, my plan  this year is to try to read some... 
I've already finished one book in 2012:
1. GHOST STORY by Jim Butcher (it was a step down from the previous book but did go a long way to transition characters and the direction of the narrative)
2. just starting: REAMDE by Neal Stephenson (I'm a fan of his work, so I expect to be greatly entertained)
3. reading to my kids: The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis
Other books that are sitting around waiting for me to read them:
The WHITE-LUCK WARRIOR by Scott Bakker
