I thought this would be bilingual, but alas Romanos' book is monolingual. Still, I can imagine hearing this chanted:

Ἐπέστης έν τῶ τάφω τοῦ Λαζάρου, κύριε,

δεσμεύσας τὸν Ἅιδηω, δυωατε.

(Yes, I know the circumflex is not typed correctly on a couple of letters, not to mention the little iota, but I'm still fooling around with this keyboard layout.)

Guess it's more motivation to learn Attic/Koine, but it is irritating that I wanted to have an English translation of Romanos the Melodist on hand so I can appreciate better this hymn/sermon on the raising of Lazarus.

Ever had that happen when you wanted a translation or at least a bilingual work and you got the original in a language you can barely understand, if at all?
