It certainly wasn't as good as the reviews would have me believe, especially those from reviewers I trust, but it was not a bad book by any means. It has been a while for me, too, having picked up the ARC at a Half Price Books a couple weeks before release, but I remember finding it firmly middle-of-the-road.
I vaguely recall feeling that there was a good story, but I could not enjoy it because all of the terms and science melted my brain. Can't confirm that though.
