So you did read it. I suppose I might have given up too fast to have a good idea on what it was like. :P But Dom agrees with me, anyway.

Dom is right that the end of It was, well, a bit too much. There was also the underage group sex, so, you know.

Who *would* you describe as a horror writer that is more or less famous? Because really, King has to be the most famous one and the one most people would name if prompted... excepting Poe perhaps, though the great masses might find him a bit too old-fashioned in most stories.

I think Dom helped me realize the distinction I appear to be missing. I haven't actually read much in the way of what's considered the horror genre, so my idea of what the horror genre is comes from movies, most of which I find unnerving and frightening and not to my liking. It seems that horror movies and what are considered horror books might be different beasts to some extent. Since King's books don't do to me what horror movies do, my mind tells me that these can't be horror books. But it's entirely possible that other horror novels would be the same, and it's just a difference between the mediums that I'm not well-versed enough in horror to appreciate.

In the end it's all definition at any rate. Whether King's books are considered horror or not, they're still the same book on the inside, and I'll still experience them the same way.

Huh. Very different list from the ones I've read, although truth be told I don't remember all the titles of mine... but Misery and The Long Walk at least are some of his best works that you still have to look forward to, then.

Misery is one that I'm most looking forward to reading when I reach that point, for sure.
