One of Kings best! Tigr Send a noteboard - 27/02/2012 05:15:28 PM
And you summarized it wonderfully. I think the book works so well because of the mix of horrific supernatural scares and terrifying reality. So much of Jack is based on King's real life faults/impulses that the reader can really identify with him as a man that only needed a little push to become a monster. Most people never receive that push.

I am not a huge fan of Tony, I think that aspect of the book shows King's youth, but the rest of the characters are terrific, especially Danny.

You are right about the spacing and timeframe at the end, feels a bit clunky and out of sync, but the Overlook being its own downfall really clinched this book for me.

Rage is a fun one. No longer in print due to Columbine and other school shootings.
