Personally, I'm not a big fan.
There are some aspects that have been overused, and the books could have been good if they hadn't been written for kids (I'm assuming they were, anyway).
Though, I must say, they're well written, and I still want to read book 4 whenever it comes out.

While I am willing to say that one cannot expect the best writing from a 16 year old... 'well written' says nothing about all the factors you need to weigh in for it to be remotely true.

Also, I suppose you have made the star wars comparison?
