Or any of the government people who produce the baby care info they hand out. All of the advice tells you to put your baby on their back to sleep.

I don't exclusively. Evelyn sleeps best on her left side but I rotate her to avoid bald patches and flat head shape. :| She just never sleeps on her tumy because she doesn't like it.
