So. I think I'd say:
- Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain
- The Haunted Book by Jeremy Dyson
And I don't have a candidate for third, because I think the rest of the books I read were either easy fantasy or murder/thrillers and they're all much of a muchness.
But the two named above were both fantastic.
