I liked it. Tom Send a noteboard - 10/08/2013 06:23:14 PM

The criticisms that I usually hear about Sanderson (the two dimensional characters, the bad dialogue) are really the same that I would myself level against 90% of the other writers in the sci-fi/fantasy field (Jordan was a terrible writer, stylistically, and don't get me started about the clunky writing of people like Orson Scott Card).

Like most genre fiction, the stories are plot-driven, which is fine by me because I don't expect much more when I read genre fiction. By that standard, I think Mistborn is one of the best series I've read, because there are numerous plot twists, many that are completely unexpected, and that make the series continually interesting. Sanderson also stands a lot of conventions on their heads, which I also enjoyed.

I would highly recommend it for someone who reads fantasy and sci-fi on a regular basis, and for those who don't I would still recommend it as beach reading.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
