New Barbara Cartland novels Artsapat Send a noteboard - 14/08/2013 06:32:16 PM

It's not the type of book that normally gets discussed on this site (and I never read one of these - the closest I have ever come is my mother-in-law who read these type of books by the bushel), but it was curious enough that I thought I would share.

Barbara Cartland, UK romance novelist who died in 2000 aged 98, was one of the most prolific writers in the English language ever, having published 723 books. For this she's got a mention in Guinness World Records for the most novels published in a single year. But as if that wasn't enough, her son has now agreed to publish a further 160(!) novels posthumously. That is an amazing amount of paper.

Estimates of her sales are somewhere between 750 million and 1 billion books worldwide, so these 160 may count for another 160+ million copies. I can't get my head around these amounts.

The mystery deepens... I think. *MySmiley*
Here's a link to the English story - I won't bother you with the Dutch site I found it on
