View original postHas she read the Alanna series by Tamora Pierce? They're great. (And I'm pretty sure they're fine for a 9 year old, but it has been about 20 years since I read them.)
While the first one should be ok for 9 years, the later ones (there are four) have a bit of sex and stuff so maybe better at 12 or so.
The Circle of Magic quartet would be good, though.

Agree Hunger Games not a good idea for a nine year old.

Turns out what I read was only a short story in the original Arsene Lupin book, not that one.
