I liked his version of magic. The story, too, was interesting.
But. He does not have any world-creation out of the ordinary, and his language is at times appalling. As are all his main characters (his minor characters are rather better). Mind you, if WoT is your take on good fantasy, then I suppose it is about level. Comparing him to Tolkien, though, is a crime.
